Nigella sativa, also known as Roman Coriander or Black Caraway in some cultures. The seeds are used as a bread topping imparting a liquorice scent and a peppery-nutmeg flavour. They can also be ground and used like pepper. Direct seed in late spring as the soil warms. It is an annual plant growing to about 35cm (14 inches) with seed yield of 400-500 seeds per gram.
