With this product you will be purchasing one bulk package of freshly ground and cooked freeze dried elk with a net weight of 12.5 ounces, packaged for long term storage.

We bring this elk in from a very reputable US rancher - it is all natural, grass fed/free ranging elk and then we grind it locally with no additives, slow cook it in small batches by hand (no microwaves or machines) and freeze dry it all in the same day, so it is as fresh as you can get. And we don’t add a single thing to it - not even salt. So the ingredient list is as simple as it gets; elk. No antibiotics used, no hormones and no inhuman treatment!

This bag contains 12.5 ounces of ground elk, which is the equivalent of 50 ounces / 3-1/8 pounds (AFTER cooking it and draining all the fat off) if purchased at your local high-end specialty butcher shop once rehydrated and ready for use. Each ounce of ground elk will weigh approximately 4 ounces of freshly cooked ground elk when rehydrated.

After we are done cooking and freeze drying, each ounce of freeze dried cooked ground elk will be the equivalent of 7-8 ounces of raw, uncooked ground elk. Between the cooking, draining of fats, and freeze drying, we reduce the weight of our fresh ground elk by almost 90%.

Because this package of ground elk is fully cooked, it is perfect to take on a hike or a camping trip without the hassle, mess and waste of having to lug a cooler around with a lot of ice. Heck - even the cooking and cleanup has already been done for you!
